I took this gobbler at flydown in 1999. Was back at the truck before the sun came up. I hid behind this log, called him up behind the same log and I reached under the log and grabbed him by the legs. I tried and tried to pull him under the log but couldn't so I had to turn him loose and call him around the end of that log. And if you believe that, WELL.... Florida Hunt - Me and Jim Loyless with a nice Osceola gobbler each. Jim took his right after flydown and about 30 minutes later I called up two nice gobblers and the rest are memories.

Opening day of 1999 in Florida. Two nice Osceola gobblers within minutes of each other. Mike Drabing from Castle Rock, CO with a nice gobbler that took two hours to coax in. We made him think the jakes had his ladies and he couldn't stand the pressure. Mike dropped him from about 40 yards out.

My girl friend and her 1st gobbler. Opening day of 2000. We set up in a blind and started yelping for about 10 to 15 minutes until we saw 3 hens coming towards us through the weeds. They walked within 10 feet of us and sure enough, the old big boy was right behind. Bev closed the deal. A nice Rio Grande gobbler taken by Jim Loyless from north Louisiana. He worked on this old gobbler all morning but he had a hen with him so right after lunch he went back and killed him within minutes after he arrived. Jim has taken his share of gobblers in the past with various types of calls but says the Virgin Hen is now at the top of his list.

Jim Loyless with his Colorado Merriam taken within minutes of flydown. The boss gobbler went off with the flock of hens and Jim managed to coax a nice satellite back to his calling. Gene Boone with his first Colorado Merriam gobbler. Gene followed a flock of turkeys all over the hills until that afternoon before finally thumping the old boss gobbler with a spinning back kick. He shot this one from a long way off and now is a believer in the old 835 Mossberg.
