Vance was set up on the edge of a dry river bed and called this old Rio Grande gobbler up at 9 o'clock in the morning. He had to shoot him on the edge of his gun's range and then had to run him down like a rooster chasing a chicken. Quite a sight. Used his Virgin Hen call.

We had our most successful turkey hunt in Texas this year ever. Three of us took our limits of four gobblers in five days and had to leave Texas a day earlier than planned. Now that's 3 guys taking 12 gobblers in 5 days. Unbelievable. We really never had success like this before we started making our box calls. I don't know what it is about the sound of our box calls but they will make one gobble when nothing else will.

This is my largest Merriam yet. I was sitting about 30 yards off the edge of a large field calling and napping. After about 2 1/2 hours I finally heard one answer me but I could hardly hear him he was so far away. I started working him and he came to me like he was on a string. He had a 10 inch beard and 1 1/4 inch spurs. The old Virgin Hen did it again.

Vance and I set up in a river bottom and called to two big gobblers. They would come up just out of sight and gobble their heads off then leave and we would have to call them back. Finally they decided to come a little closer and take a look at this floosy that was teasing them and Vance reached out and touched one.

Harve Nauman has been having a heck of a time calling up gobblers every since he got hold of one of our Virgin Hen calls. Harve is from Manchester, Tennessee and took this nice big Eastern gobbler this year. Thanks Harve for sharing your turkey hunt with us.

Guy Dickson took this nice big Eastern gobbler in Tennessee this year using a Virgin Hen call. Way to go Guy. That's a heck of a beard hanging on that one. The Virgin Hen shouldn't be sold to these Tennessee boys ;0)

Scott Dickson had a great morning when he called in this nice big Tennessee longbeard. Lots of people ask me " Does your box calls work on easterns?". well, here's your answer. Nice gobbler Scott. Another Virgin Hen success story.

"These Wisconsin turkeys were called in using the Mother Clucker box call. It was a tough week (17-21 April 2006). The birds were roosted with hens and would gobble good from the roost but after they flew down the hens would take them away from the calls. We got lucky on Wednesday and set up in the dark under a bird on the roost. He flew down and came right to the call and decoys" quote from Michael Brown.
